What small pickup truck do you recommend?

I want a small single cab pick-up truck, not as huge as a Ford Ranger or a Mitsubishi Warrior type but much more modest and lower to the ground. You mention pick-ups of the 1990s being a sensible size so I might be able to get a used one. What do you suggest?

Small older pick-ups include the Proton Jumbuck, The Volkswagen Caddy and the Skoda Fabia pick-up. But basically all pick-ups were smaller until the Isuzu D-Max and Toyota Hi Lux Vigo of 2003. There was also greater availability of low-level 2WD rather than jacked-up 4WD. However, most pre-2003 pick-ups are likely to be wrecks.
