There's a delay in getting a replacement power steering fluid pump for my Ford Focus - can I use a pattern part?
The power steering fluid pump has broken in my 2006 (petrol) Ford Focus and the RAC delivered it to a garage which isn't a Ford main dealership. The garage say there is a 2-month waiting time for a Ford part and if I want it done sooner they can use a non-Ford alternative part. Is it advisable to use real Ford parts?

I have heard of some Ford parts delays, but not this. But no reason not to go for a secondhand genuine pump from a wreck obtained via find-a part or similar. Are you sure its the pump and not just a pipe come off?
