Should I have the oil changed in my Volvo V70 following the DPF recall related to oil contamination by fuel?

You probably know that Volvo have issued a safety recall related to rising sump oil levels in their D5 Diesel engines with a DPF, which is caused by excess fuel entering the engine sump via cylinders during DPF regeneration cycles. Their solution is to reprogram the engine management software to reduce the volume of fuel used during the regeneration cycle and drain the excess oil back to midway between the min/max levels on the dip stick, then keep an eye on it.

With my affected 2008 V70 D5 15k having its oil level 2-3 cms above max, I calculate the oil has been diluted by about two litres of diesel fuel and consider that the oil needs to be changed, not just have the excess drained off - especially with a turbo diesel. Volvo and the dealer say there is no problem at this level of oil dilution and will not change the oil free of charge. I bet if I asked them to save me money at the next oil change by tipping in a couple of litres of diesel they would not take this view. What do you think? I am inclined to pay the £70 fresh oil cost myself and argue with Volvo later.

Have the oil changed. That is Mazda's policy over the same problem. I will add the warning to the relevant Volvo entries in car-by-car breakdown.
