Belt or chain?

When I ordered my car I am sure the higher powered 170bhp engine was described as having a chain, whereas the lower powered standard 140bhp had a cambelt. I am advised that at the next service my car will need its belt changed which came as a surprise. Can you advise if my engine has a belt or chain please? Or simple visual checks a non mechanic can do to identify the difference.
All VAG 2.0 TDIs are belt cam. The 2.0TFSI switched from belt to chain cam around 2008/2009.
