Is there an additional driving test our 18-year-old granddaughter can take to reduce her insurance premium?

Our 18-year-old granddaughter recently passed her driving test. The family's second car is a basic MINI but when her parents tried to add her to their insurance the premiums quoted were prohibitive ranging from £2000 to £6000. We remember from an earlier letter from your page that there is an additional driving test available for newly qualified drivers that helps to reduce premiums. Please can you let us have any details about this matter?
