What should I do if my new car is not to the specification ordered, or it is damaged during delivery?

When purchasing a new car, can you please advise me of my consumer rights in the following circumstances: the vehicle is not to the specification ordered, or the vehicle has been damaged during delivery.

Your rights are here: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights. If the manufacturer has changed the spec between order and delivery then the dealer is not liable. If the dealer has messed up the order then the dealer is liable. If the vehicle has been damaged before delivery then you do not have to accept it. But if the dealer sticks over this he could insist he has the right to repair it to satisfactory standard, and a long legal argument may ensue over whether the repair is satisfactory or not. You don't want this sort of thing to go to the county court because it could cost you £15,000 without a satisfactory outcome.
