Thank you for your advice re the Volkswagen Jetta ABS/ESP Unit. Armed with your reply to the query, I confronted Volkswagen Customer Care. The outcome was that the charge was reduced from £1,228.98 to £371.76, the “goodwill gesture” being shared by Volkswagen and my local Volkswagen dealer.

Congratulations. Well done. But what is now happening is that VAG has retracted and is repairing these units instead of replacing them.
