I need a van but don't want to buy a diesel. Will it be hard to sell on in the future?

I'm unable to find a petrol medium van but a van is just what I need. I was particularly interested in the Volkswagen Transporter but I really don't like diesels! Diesel engines seem to be on the way out, so how easy will it be to sell it in a year or two?

Diesel is still the number one powertrain choice for medium size vans. The reasons for this are simple: diesel engines are cheaper to run and better suited to moving heavy loads due to their higher levels of low-gear torque. Will diesel van prices fall? Certainly, for older models that don't meet Euro6 emission standards, but it will be some time before petrol and electric powertrains become the norm.

The Transporter was offered with Volkswagen's 2.0 TSI petrol engine for a short time - we ran one for three months: vans.honestjohn.co.uk/our-vans/volkswagen-transpor...6

The Ford Transit Custom is also available with a petrol plug-in hybrid system: vans.honestjohn.co.uk/van-reviews/ford/transit-cus...d
