How quickly can a clutch burn out?

Can a clutch and fly wheel burn out at 1700 miles and then again at 5000 miles after a new one is fitted?
A new clutch could be destroyed in about 15 minutes if the driver revved the engine had without completely engaging it. In your case it would either be the fault of the driver or the clutch release mechanism not completely engaging the clutch.
