I found damage to my car after a ferry crossing - can I claim from the ferry company?

I returned recently by ferry from Ireland and travelled straight home after docking in Holyhead. The next morning I found what appeared to be footprint marks on the roof of the car. Thinking my car had been vandalised on my drive overnight I reported the matter to my local police. I was advised to take photos of the prints and get the car inspected for any other damage. I took the car to a garage where they pointed out further dents on the roof and bonnet suggesting something had been thrown over the car and maybe it could have happened on the ferry. What are my chances of seeking damages from the ferry company?

You would need to prove that the ferry company was liable. Ask them if they have CCTV on the ship, and if they do, whether you can view it. If they are liable, you can claim from them. Without the evidence, you will be unable too.
