What automatic SUV that can tow would you recommend?

I am looking for an automatic car which can tow (infrequently) up to around 2000 kgs and be capable of minor off road work. I do occasional longer distance runs of around 250 miles so would like something with reasonable on road performance. My annual mileage is under 10,000. I would like the car to be potentially a long term keeper. I am not too fixed on price and would be prepared to spend up to £40k. Any suggestions?

You should consider our 2018 Car of the Year, the Skoda Kodiaq. With the 2.0-litre diesel engine, DSG automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive, it will comfortably tow 2000kg. It's also a really practical SUV that offers great value for money. The new Hyundai Santa Fe is another good option, capable of towing 2000kg. SUVs like these are great for long journeys while also being able to tow and tackle minor off-road work.
