Station Wagon version of SEAT Exeo shown at Geneva Motor Show, called Exeo ST. Particularly good looking in light metallic blue/grey.

ST measures 4,670mm in length and has a seats-up load capacity of 442 litres (less than the saloon).

Like the Exeo saloon, the ST is built on a new line at Martorell, near Barcelona. It is offered in S, SE, Sport and range-topping SE Lux trim levels, with an initial choice of three engines, all Euro V-compliant, two common rail turbodiesels producing 143 PS or 170 PS, as well as a 200 PS turbocharged petrol. They all have a standard six-speed manual gearbox.

The coolant system of my car is contaminated with transmission fluid - what can I do?

"I own a 2012 Seat Exeo ST 2.0 TDi Auto. One morning I found a pool of transmission fluid and water on my drive. It was towed to a SEAT main dealer and they informed me that the coolant system is contaminated with transmission fluid. The two possible fixes are changing the gearbox and cooling system at a cost of £10k plus or changing the radiator, flushing out the system and topping up the gearbox at a cost of £1000. Can you advise me?"
If the car engine has not been started then there's a reasonable chance that little or no coolant got into the transmission, so it's worth having the transmission fluid replaced by dialysis using a Liqui Moly ATF transfusion machine (member of http://www.fedauto.co.uk). The engine cooling system also needs to be flushed of transmission fluid and the radiator and heat exchanger replaced. Cross your fingers...

Can you part exchanged old wheels for new?

"I have a SEAT Exeo ST with 18-inch wheels and low profile tyres, I'm coming up to replace tyres and want to go to normal tyres, which I guess means changing to 17-inch alloys. Is there anywhere that does a part exchange type deal, or would I have to sell the 18s separately? "
Doubtful, unless you ask around. If you buy the 16 or 17-inch wheels and tyres outright (http://www.tyremen.co.uk) you might be able to sell the 18-inch wheels and worn tyres on an internet auction site.

Which large family estate car should I buy?

"I'm looking for a spacious diesel estate car. I need lots of rear leg room and space in the boot. I do about 25,000 miles year, so need a diesel. I also want a car that will cover 0-60mph in less than 10 seconds. I have a budget of around £6000 and looking at something less than 6 years old. I was thinking of the Mazda 6, Toyota Avensis or a Ford Mondeo. I'm concerned over the Mondeo as every Ford I've ever owned had bits of interior falling off. Which car would you buy? "
Not a Mazda 6 this age due to DPF problems impacting on engines. Avensis 2.2 diesel so-so. Mondeo better. Could also consider a Skoda Superb, and a SEAT Exeo ST.

Which large estate car?

"I'm looking to buy a new estate. Currently I own a 2008 Audi A4 B7 Avant 1.9tdi. with 115PS. I'm looking at a newer Audi, maybe 2009 or 10, or a BMW 520d 2009/10. I need a square boot at least 40 inches wide. There aren't many estates in this category with this size boot! I'm very tempted by your excellent review of the Exeo, but I'm worried about depreciation as its now not being made anymore. I would hope to trade in again within three years. Budget is around £12,000 inc my Audi trade in price. Which would you recommend, if any? Maybe there's another model I've missed?"
The old 1.9TDI engine in VAG cars was reliable and had no diesel particulate filter to worry about. Newer engines are more likely to cause problems, including the 2.0TDI 143 in the Exeo ST. If you want big a Mondeo is probably best. Generally more reliable than VAG cars and BMWs.
