A ferry crossing – from around £40
Getting on a plane is all well and good, but for a real adventure there is no substitute for making your own way. You won’t get very far without crossing the sea, though – so a ferry crossing is essential if you want to go on a European adventure in the car.
P&O has various routes for trips to Europe via France or The Netherlands, or you could cross over to Ireland. Routes from Hull to Rotterdam, Netherlands and Zeebrugge, Belgium are overnight, but there is plenty of onboard entertainment including bars, a cinema and a casino.
