Another Toyota that should run and run.

Collected ex-demonstrator Verso TR 1.6 valvematic manual 5 seat 05/05, 3500 miles on clock, traded in for 2004 Avensis Tourer T3x(77,000 miles).
None to sure about the drop to 1.6, bhp comparable with previous Avensis 1.8 but no need to worry, Verso accelerates very well once over 2,000 rpm, probably 1st is a bit low , 6th is not an overdrive which is a shame but ratios do seems well matched to economical driving, new 6 speed box is a vast improvement on the Avensis 5 speed, the clutch is a delight, the ecu seems to adjust to your driving style as the eco-nag on the console will vary its down \ up change advice, if driving briskly it will not nag till rpm at about the same as the last change.

Only on third tank of Shell standard unleaded, mpg for mainly daily 11 mile each way commute(some 60\70mph dual carriageway to 10mph crawl) 42 mpg, mileage corrected for accuracy.
I have read in forum posts the speedometer is a bit optimistic by upto15%, mine is about 12%.@ 30mph to 9% @60 mph, indicated 75 equates to 70 mph.
Range should easily be 500 miles, I filled up at fuel nag (Toyota claim 9l left in tank) brimmed with 47 litres, 13 litres still in tank after 440 miles.
VED £155, another bonus.

Engine and gearbox generally inaudible, unless under hard acceleration.
The Verso is very quiet for UK roads, will visit Spain and Portugal later this year, I expect absolute silence on superior European asphalt.
Handles pot holes, speed humps and cushions well
As expected the body rolls more than the Avensis Tourer when driven enthusiastically, slowly adjusting driving style to accommodate, handles tramlines and road grooves well.
Electronics seem less intrusive than the Avensis.
Very good turning circle, quite surprising considering the size of the vehicle.

Exterior
Very smooth, shut lines superb, front doors seems slightly cantilevered, all doors seem almost to self close, no need to slam.
Rear hatch is odd, it does not seem to fill the gap and has a steep opening angle, closes smoothly, no need to slam.

Interior
Seating, looks like Toyota now have a firm standard, seats all have good lumber, side and thigh support, driver has reach, height and rake adjustment good masses of rearward adjustment, steering wheel will follow you allowing driver to easily find a comfortable position.
All 3 individual rear seats on rails will move forwards, back and rake cann be changed to suit all passengers as well as folding completely flat in various configurations, Euro ISOFlex fittings for safety seats and boosters.

Boot has a tonneau cover, boot space for lots of luggage, below the rear floor is another space hiding the rear spare(space saver), leaving plenty of room as well as cubbys for lots of clutter.
Finish seems to Toyota normal high standard, solid and will last forever.
