Overall reliability

So far comfortable and reliable.

Car was bought on a quick trip from Spain to buy a Right-Hand drive car take back to Spain prior to returning to UK after 30 years away. So first drive was to the ferry and then a long day through Spain. Found car very comfortable and not too noisy.
Previous cars have been two Renault Megane Scenics so very disappointed with the lack of onboard stowage and really the poor interior design. The car is a mix of analogue and digital features. The designers obviously felt that they needed some sort of digital onboard computing but didn't have a clear idea of what they wanted. The end result is rather a strange mix of good, bad and why design it like that.
The interior is spoilt with the central transmission shaft being retained in a front 2WD. This takes up an awful lot of space. I know Skoda has used a VW Golf chassis, but surely there's never been a 4WD or rear wheel drive Golf. I realise that Skoda has a one size fits all chassis for all Yeti versions, but the interior would feel so much roomier without the transmission tunnel.
The rear door design does not make full use of the lack of a spare wheel and should be flush with the floor. It makes it difficult to load heavy objects and restricts height for loading large items.
On the plus side the build seems very good. I see a lot of metal used where Renault use plastic. The car has a good solid feel about it.
It took a while to get used to the light steering via a relatively small wheel. I was beginning to wonder if there was a fault as I seemed to be permantly correcting the steering. Finally I realised It was over-controlling and over a few weeks driving my wife and I got used to it.
So far the car has been very reliable over 8000 miles of mixed driving. Been achieving low 50s mpg, but that's achieved being mindful of economy. There's no doubt that the gearbox has been devised with economy in mind, which makes for pretty unimpressive performance. The only way I can see that one could get the low 60s claimed mpg would be drive at 60mph on motorways only!
