Nice build quality, good road manners...but utterly gutless

Really nice build quality at this price range, exceptional road manners for a tall SUV type and doesn't wallow around on the twisty stuff. Seats are comfy enough - could do with deeper bolsters especially on the 'sportier' styled Homura and all of the surfaces are a little 'firm' compared to my usual purchases (Large Jags, Audis & Lexus), including the steering wheel which I just can't find a comfy position for long drives so far.
Steering is fast & accurate - easy to place it exactly where you want on the road. Fairly threw it into some tight bends and knew there wouldn't be any understeer surprises.
It's just a dissapointment that for a 2.0 engine it's so underpowered and fails to get up to 60 or 70 in less than 11/14 seconds, frankly - that's laughable. Forget (50-60 / 60-70) overtaking unless you can see a good 1/4 mile down the road. C'mon Mazda...give it a turbo or a hybrid assist!
Fuel economy is OK 40+ without trying to be frugal.
Visibility is very good all round and the parking camera and sensors make slotting it into narrow spots accurately a dream.
Felt exceptionally hard done by with the poor feature level of the UK version of the My Mazda App.
Where other countries get remote (via phone network) open / close & engine / climate start, we get...wow, you can lock it and "find it".
Loving the versatility of the rear seats / load area and the powered hatch.
Sunroof is a nice touch - odd to be oooing and aaahing over a hole in the roof.
I appreciated the almost spartan level of visible control buttons - this is a nice cabin. Can't say i like the selection dial as it's just an amazingly SLOW way to input information but the infotainment side is responsive and with the added bonus of fully integrating Android or Apple it's a winner.
It's actually hard to fault the interior - OK, it is BEGGING to have a centre armrest or extending hatch lid as there is nowhere for driver or passenger to rest their other arm.
Overall, given that I wanted an SUV type and with a 5' tall passenger with mobility issues (even a Qashqai was a struggle to get into) this ticked the access box without feeling like they were sititng so low down they lost all visibility. It's a fair (mid range) SUV - perfect for round town and short journeys.
