Promised much, fine petrol engine, tardis-like interior

We had been looking forward to collecting our petrol ix20 after many happy years in a Modus. It promised and delivered front and rear head and leg room aplenty, a flexible and commodious boot - it delivered two to university including a full drum kit and rig. The petrol engine pulled from such low revs - behaving sweeter than the diesel. The sound system, Bluetooth and main electrics performed well, but unsolved problems showing in the instrument cluster caused a loss of faith and the car supermarket in Derby were exemplary in their customer service as we rejected the vehicle.
The problems with the instrument cluster showed first in the fuel gauge reading full at all times. Then the speedometer started to over-read - 40+ mph when actual speed was around 15-20mph, slowing for a junction. Both speedo and tachometer dipped to zero and instrument lights came on - as though the engine/electrics had stalled - yet the engine never missed a beat. A new cluster was fitted. The problems were clear for just a day; when they came back, the airbag/pretensioner warning light came on permanently and the trip computer declared an trip average speed of 300mph along with other unusual readings.
Sadly, we returned the vehicle. Many good points, but - especially after years of putting up with Renault's variably reliable electrics, the first impressions destroyed our trust.
