Great all round car good fuel economy and general running costs

I purchased the C-Max privately from am owner who had purchased the vehicle on a three year Ford Lease. As a car this does everything I require. The boot will take three sets of golf clubs and the bags if packed carefully. Tyre wear at front approx. 26K the rears go on and on! The rear storage space can be a fiddle to use when folding the seats forward to provide maximum storage. Be sure to use the elastic restrainers to hold the folded seats in the upright postion, if you do not the seats will hit the floor with some force. My car has an electric handbrake. It has been no problem but it puts off my wife driving the car. I would definitely purchase another C-Max but with standard handbrake, if I had not had the problem with my local dealer when carrying out an Alternator replacement Diesel consumption 'round the houses' approx 46 mpg sensible motorway use up to 50 mpg.
Faults in three + years of ownership have been reversing switch failure and an alternator at just 53k miles. It is worth looking the alternator problem on Google. It is a common problem and many reports have been added to the various discussion sites. The Dealership cost Keith Motors Christchurch Dorset for the basic exchange including drive belt (my choice) was approximately £390.00. On top of this the dealer wanted to charge for a Diagnostic check prior to starting the work at approx £100.00. The receptionist stated he did not feel the work could go ahead without the diagnostic check but the Technician agreed to go ahead as there were three clear indicators of the alternator being faulty. I was charged a totally non transparent charge for resetting the electrics on completion of the alternator exchange. The receptionist. of 15 plus years experience, asked the Technician how long he should allow and was advised 'about half an hour'. I am still waiting for the promised letter explainining Keith Motors apparrent random charges. Ford Motor Co will not advise if the extra charges are in line with their servicing policies. The outcome of questionable charging is that I will avoid using Keith Motors and think twice about buying a another Ford. Shame as I like the car.
