Great vehicle. Pity about after sales service

Great build quality and a improvement on previous model. I covered 170000 miles in previous A6 Avant in 6 years with no major problems and it returned 51 - 53 mpg
Latest model fuel economy is no where near claimed figure of 56.5 mpg. I am returning 42 - 44 mpg
Disappointingly Audi service have come up with reasons such as " these are packed with technology so fuel consumption will suffer???!!!" and dont belive the driver information system???!!!
I thought that more technology would improve fuel consumption
