Budget 2010: Key points

Key points from Budget 2010:

Fuel Duty: The Chancellor has announced that fuel duty rises will be staggered. 1p rise in April (instead of the planned 3p), 1p in October and 1p in January.

Road Tax (VED):

No announcements yet, but changes from 2008 and 2009 Budgets and Pre-Budget Reports come into force on 1 April.

Improvements to roads:

It's announced that £100m will be made available to make vital repairs to local roads, while £285m is allocated for motorways, including money to increase capacity and enable drivers to use the hard shoulder as an extra lane. Will we see a reduction in the number of potholes?
