Lexus RX450h
Real MPG score: 63%
The Lexus RX is one of the sharpest looking SUVs on the road. Its cabin is also one of the smartest, with lots of space and high quality materials. Unfortunately, while hybrid systems are a Lexus speciality, the 450h’s on-the-road 33mpg is a long way short of its advertised 54mpg.

The main down side is that the Phev is Taxed as a gas gussler which is disheartening to say the leastTony Shone on 14 June 2018
Had one for 3 years - felt totally conned - ok if you drive short journeys and can find somewhere to plug in, but for long journeys absolutely useless once the electric runs out - worse mpg than my old Freelander. To make matters worse lost a fortune selling it. Gone back to diesel F-Pace - considerably more efficient on a long run.farmideas on 14 June 2018

All this ignores the reported awful environmental impact of building the things. A pal of mine has a Lexus soft roader thing which is admirably reliable but does 36mpg overall, so how pointless is that? I too am sticking with diesel.Add a comment
