Garmin launches Babycam in-car baby monitor
Modern baby seats face backwards for safety reasons – but that means checking on a baby from the front seat is a bit tricky. Garmin’s solution is a camera that mounts to the rear headrest and sends images to a compatible sat nav screen in the front of the car.
The Babycam works with selection of Garmin navigation systems, linking up wirelessly. It uses two AA batteries, or can be connected to a 12V outlet. Theres's a night vision sensor, meaning the camera will work in low-light conditions without shining a bright light and disturbing a sleeping child.
The Babycam can be used in conjunction with other wireless cameras, so drivers can switch between the BC30 reversing camera and Babycam at will. Prices for the Babycam are not currently set for the UK, but it costs 200 US dollars, so should be around £130.
