Geneva Motor Show 2019: Mazda broadens its SUV appeal with CX-30
Mazda is launching a new SUV. The CX-30 will slot in between the CX-3 and CX-5 in Mazda's range and be priced from around £22,000 when it goes on sale in the UK later this year.
The CX-30 was originally expected to be badged the CX-4, but Mazda has decided to save that badge for another day in the UK - and probably another SUV or crossover.
Details are sketchy on the new model for the time being, but the CX-30 will rival the Nissan Qashqai and feature the same swoopy 'Kodo' design language as the CX-3.
User-friendly packaging means the CX-30 will comfortably seat four adults, says Mazda. It's also been designed so it's easy to drive, with its increased height over a hatchback providing excellent visibility.
Expect to see the usual array of Mazda's turbocharged diesel and naturally-aspirated petrol engines along with the new Skyactiv-X compression ignition engine used in the Mazda 3. Buyers will also get a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.
