Citroen C3 Aircross to go on sale in November from £13,995
Citroen has confirmed the pricing and specs for the C3 Aircross. The new family SUV will officially go on sale in the UK in November and start from £13,995, with petrol and diesel engines and 85 different personalisation combinations.
Reaffirming Citroen and Peugeot’s shift from MPV to SUV, the C3 Aircross sits 10mm higher than the standard model and features skid plates, plastic bodywork cladding and extended wheel arches. Entry-level models will get 16-inch wheels fitted as standard and Citroen’s enhanced Grip Control traction system will be available as an option, with automatic hill descent and all-road driving modes.
The engine line-up mirrors the standard C3, with the range encompassing turbocharged three-cylinder petrols and four-cylinder diesels. The PureTech petrols will be available with 82PS, 110PS or 130PS, along with a six speed manual or EAT6 automatic gearboxes. There will only be two BlueHDi diesels - 100PS or 120PS - and both will be limited to a manual gearbox. Citroen hasn't released any figures relating to CO2 or fuel economy for any of the petrols or diesels.
The front-wheel drive C3 Aircross will get an array of safety tech, including automatic emergency city braking, lane departure warning and blind spot monitoring, which will warn the driver when a vehicle is parallel and hidden from view. A colour head-up driver's display will also be available to illustrate the vehicle's speed and navigation commands.
Citroen is promising high levels of comfort in the cabin, with space for four adults and the choice of five different interior ambiences, comprising of special seat upholstery, dashboard textures, door panel designs, and coloured dashboard inserts. If you include the various exterior body and roof colour schemes, the C3 Aircross will boast 85 customisation options.
Most models will get a seven-inch touchscreen as standard, which groups together the key vehicle functions such as air conditioning, DAB radio, telephone connectivity and navigation. Wireless smartphone charging will be available, along with Android Auto, MirrorLink and Apple CarPlay.
Citroen hasn't released equipment specs for the range, but has confirmed that there will be three versions - Touch, Feel and Flair. High spec models will get a slidable rear bench and provide 520-litres of boot space, while entry models will provide 410 litres when the rear seats are in place with 60/40 split-folding.
The new C3 Aircross will replace the C3 Picasso and provides the strongest hint yet that Citroen might shift away from its traditional MPVs by replacing them all with SUVs - something that's well underway at Peugeot, with the relaunch of the 3008 and 5008.
