Mazda MX-5 crowned UK Car of the Year 2016

Published 01 March 2016

The Mazda MX-5 has been named UK Car of the Year 2016 by a panel of 27 British motoring jounalists, including HonestJohn.co.uk’s own David Ross. Mazda also took the prize for best supermini, with the Mazda2.

In total there are 13 categories in UK Car of the Year, including the overall winner. Judges pick their favourite models in each of the classes, then choose an overall winner from their favourites in each class. This year there was an additional aspect, with a day judging all of the category winners at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground.

Jeremy Thomson, Mazda Motors UK managing director said: “I’m delighted that the all-new Mazda MX-5 has added another prestigious award to its growing tally of accolades. The MX-5 embodies all that is great about our products. Its fun to drive character has earned it a place in the hearts of driving enthusiasts the world over.”
