Peugeot reveals revised 508

Published 19 June 2014

Peugeot has revealed the revised 508 saloon. The updated model gets reduced emissions, improved quality and revised styling inside and out. Prices will be confirmed nearer the September 2014 launch date, but don’t expect them to change much from the current car, which starts at just below £20,000.

The engine range has been updated with Euro 6 compliant petrol and diesel powerplants, most notable of which are the BlueHDI diesels, offered in two power outputs. The 150PS model manages emissions of 105g/km while the 180PS automatic emits 111g/km. The automatic gearbox is new and much improved over that of the outgoing model.

The 1.6-litre petrol engine benefits from a power hike of 10PS up to 165PS and is offered with either a six-speed manual or the new six-speed auto. Peugeot will continue to offer the Hybrid4 all-wheel drive diesel hybrid, which has emissions of 85g/km and combined consumption of 85.6mpg.

Exterior styling has been overhauled with a sleeker, less fussy design and some high-tech features like full-LED lighting. The interior has been improved too, with a less cluttered centre stack and a seven-inch touchscreen system, plus a closed storage bin and more technology, including blind spot assistance and a reversing camera.
