Astra gets new 1.6 CDTi diesel

Published 06 February 2014

Vauxhall is adding its new 1.6 CDTi diesel engine to the Astra range. Available in the five-door hatchback and Sports Tourer, there are two versions available - a 110PS and a 136PS variant. Prices start at £17,635 and it's available to order now with the first cars arriving in April.

Initially launched in the Zafira Tourer and then the Meriva, the new 1.6 CDTi diesel has been designed to be quiet and refined. It replaces the 1.7 CDTi in the Vauxhall line-up and the four cylinder unit is part of a comprehensive powertrain development programme, which will result in 13 engines being launched over the next three years.

It's also economical with the 110PS version averaging an official 76.3mpg with CO2 emissions of 97g/km. The 136PS model has a claimed economy figure of 72.4mpg with 104g/km CO2.
