All-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class priced from £26,855

Mercedes-Benz has confirmed that the all-new C-Class saloon will cost from £26,855, with first deliveries expected in June. Two engines will be available from launch – the C200 petrol and the C220 BlueTec diesel. Both are available with the choice of either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmission.

The C200 petrol engine produces 184PS and 300Nm of torque while the C220 BlueTec diesel produces 170PS and 400Nm of torque. The petrol can sprint from 0-62mph in 7.5 seconds and has a top speed of 147mph, with official economy of 53.3mpg and emissions from 123g/km.

As you’d expect the diesel model is more frugal, achieving official economy of 70.6mpg and emissions of as low as 103g/km, which will put it firmly on company car driver’s radars. Performance is similar to the petrol model, with a 0-62mph sprint time of 7.7mph and a top speed of 145mph.

From launch there will be three trim levels – SE, Sport and AMG. SE forms the entry trim level, but equipment is still generous. All cars come with a 7-inch touchscreen control system, dual-zone climate control and multimedia device connectivity, plus cruise control, automatic wipers and a reversing camera.

Moving up to Sport trim costs around £2000, and adds larger 17-inch alloy wheels, Garmin sat nav, lowered suspension and LED headlights. AMG trim adds 18-inch AMG alloy wheels, AMG body styling details, and AMG steering wheel, sports suspension and Artico artificial leather dashboard upholstery.

There’s a broad range of option packs, highlights from which include the £1595 Premium Pack AMG and Sport trim levels. This adds memory package to the electric front seats, a panoramic glass roof and an ambient lighting system. There’s also an air suspension pack for £895 and a 360 degree parking camera for £335.
