Porsche launches Panamera Turbo S

Published 31 October 2013

Porsche recently facelifted its Panamera saloon and now it is launching the most powerful version yet in the shape of the new Turbo S. It has 50PS more than the standard Turbo giving 570PS in total which means a top speed of 192mph and a 0-62mph time of just 3.8 seconds. It costs £131,049 with the first cars arriving in UK showrooms in January 2014.

The extra power comes courtesy of two new turbochargers with larger compressors, which increases the air flow at high loads and engine speeds. Torque is also increased with an extra 50Nm which means a hefty 750Nm that peaks from just 2250rpm. Economy remains the same as the Turbo with a claimed average of 27.7mpg.

To make it stand out, the Turbo S comes with 20-inch 911 Turbo II alloy wheels which are significantly wider than the standard wheels on other models. There is also a new metallic paint colour, Palladium, that is available solely for the new model. As the fastest Panamera in the range, the Turbo S also gets Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) as standard complete with yellow brake calipers.

Inside, The Turbo S gets two-tone leather trim as standard and new Dark Burl Walnut trim plus embossed Porsche crests on the front headrests. The electric front seats are 14-way adjustable and both the front and rear seats are heated as standard.

Other standard features include the Sport Chrono pack which includes Sport and Sport Plus modes plus Launch Control. This is designed to provide the best possible acceleration by optimally coordinating the responses of the engine control system and the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) gearshift.
