Revised Freelander 2 due in October

Land Rover is updating the Freelander 2 for 2013 with its second facelift since it was launched six years ago. The revisions include new colours, exterior design features and upgraded equipment levels. Land Rover is also promising better comfort and more driving enjoyment. The new models go on sale in October although prices have yet to be confirmed.

The previous facelift in 2010 was mainly cosmetic but the changes this time are more comprehensive with an overhauled interior. There's a brand new, much tidier centre console while the original Terrain Response dial has been replaced by switches. The instrument cluster is redesigned with a 5-inch screen between the two dials plus Land Rover had also ditched the handbrake for an electric parking brake which frees up space.

The sat nav system has been improved with a hard-drive based system plus there's the option of a rearview camera displayed on the central screen. The system includes 'Hitch Assist' which superimposes the position of the tow ball. Other new features includes a keyless start system while a new ‘Dynamic’ model is available which comes in three new interior colours, Ebony, Ivory or Pimento, each with matching stitching and co-ordinated door covers.

The new Dynamic version gets a full bodystyling kit along with and a gloss black finish to the grille plus 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels with a painted finish.

The HSE is upgraded wood interior trim and comes with a panoramic sunroof, memory function for the driver’s seat and door mirrors and the 825W Meridian surround sound audio system.
