Suzuki gives Splash a minor refresh

Suzuki has given the Splash mini-mpv an overhaul, with new front and rear bumpers, new interior materials and a new paint colour. Prices for the overhauled model start at £7777.

Most of the changes to the Splash are superficial – there are new front and rear bumpers, a slightly tweaked bonnet and a different grille. The redesigned body makes the car 60mm longer, meaning an overall length of 3775mm. A new paint colour - Sparkling Blue metallic - is now available too. The cabin has also been given a refresh with new fabric colour schemes and a piano black finish on the centre console.

As before two engines are available – a 68PS 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol with emissions of 109g/km and fuel economy of 60.1mpg along with a 94PS 1.2-litre four-cylinder with emissions of 118g/km and fuel economy of 55.4mpg. The latter is available with an automatic transmission as well as the standard five-speed manual.

The new Splash comes in three trim levels – SZ2, SZ3 and SZ4. All models get an MP3 compatible CD-player, steering wheel mounted audio controls, a leather steering wheel, remote central locking and electric mirrors. SZ3 models and above get air-conditioning, while top spec SZ4 trim add ESP, curtain airbags, 15-inch alloy wheels, front foglights, keyless entry and privacy glass.

The Splash ranked first among mainstream models in our list of cars with the highest pass rates for their first MoT test. The new model is available to order now.
