Goodwood Festival of Speed 2014: Lexus RC F to make UK debut

Published 20 June 2014

The new Lexus RC F will make its UK debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next week. The new coupe, which is due to be launched at the end of 2014, was shown at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year.

It won't be merely a static display though as the RC F will take to the track making speed run's on the Goodwood hill course.

The RC F is fitted with the most powerful V8 engine Lexus has ever produced for a road car. The 5.0-litre unit develops more than 450PS and 520Nm of torque with an eight-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission.

Along with a torque vectoring differential, the RC F comes with an active rear wing. This is built into the boot and creates additional downforce at speeds above 50mph. To make the RC F stand out from the standard RC it comes with a higher bonnet with an air vent, ten-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels and dual twin exhausts. Carbon fibre is used in the roof, bonnet and rear wing to keep weight down.

The RC F has evolved from the new Lexus RC coupe, which will follow in 2015. Although final details haven't been revealed, the RC F is expected to go on sale in the UK with an expected cost of around £55,000.
