Frankfurt Motor Show 2013: Infiniti announces Q30 concept

Published 10 September 2013

Infiniti has signalled its intention to compete with BMW's 1 Series and Audi's A3 with the unveiling of its Q30 concept. The hatchback was announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show and could become a key model as Infiniti seeks to broaden its appeal and attract younger customers.

Although it’s still in the concept stage, the Q30 could make it to the road in 2015 and would be built at the Nissan plant in Sunderland. The styling echoes the new Q50 saloon, although the Q30 will be a five-door hatch with a coupe-like profile and hidden rear door handles.

No prices have been disclosed, but we have been told by Infiniti that the Q30 will be the first car 'influenced' by its Director of Performance, Sebastian Vettel. He was also involved in the driving dynamics of the Q50 as Infiniti attempts to 'infuse the brand with race-bred performance' and attract young-minded affluent customers.
