January 2018 DVSA recall round-up: Nissan Qashqai recalled due to brake fault

Published 10 January 2018

Nissan, Fiat, Mazda and Citroen are among the manufacturers to issue safety recalls in recent weeks, with the most significant being for the Qashqai.

Nissan is recalling more than 25,000 Qashqai models - built between 2013 and 2016 - due to a wheelarch issue that may result in brake fluid leakage.

According to the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), the wheelarch protector may contact the brake hose at motorway speeds and result in excessive wear to the protective cover. If left untreated, this could result in fluid leakage and loss of braking.

Fiat has also issued a safety notice for the 500L. Apparently 17,000 cars might be susceptible to the supplementary heater wiring problems. This in turn could cause an electrical short circuit that – in the worst case scenario – can cause the car to catch fire.

There is a large recall for the Mazda 6 too, with almost 16,000 cars being affected to handbrake corrosion that may result in the car moving unexpectedly.

Have the 2014 Nissan Qashqai, must say there was no problem with recall at Northampton Nissan, they were very friendly, and done the job in no time what soever, they even done a free video health check ,plus the car was washed and cleaned inside , I am a Audi driver in the past ,and this was my first Nissan I have ever bought ,was sceptical at first but its a very good used car with all the equipment you get for price

Not surprised that the Qashqai has such a big recall. Not the best built it designed SUV on the soft roader market. Poor bus really. Cheap plastics and shodily put together. Wouldn't give one driveway space

Had 2014 qashqai nearly three years (top of the range with all the electrics)..Cant faullt the car or the service from Nissan.Finding it very difficult to find a replacement with the same spec for simular money.
Will admit that some of the german marques have good build quality but like for like way way over priced and not parlicularly reliable (good adverts though!)
