September 2018 DVSA recall round-up: Broken windscreen wipers, short circuits and faulty airbags

Mitsubishi is recalling 22,000 ASX models due to a windscreen wiper fault, while Jeep has issued a serious safety notice for 340 Grand Cherokees over an electric short that may result in the cruise control becoming locked or unexpectedly accelerating.

Elsewhere, Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for hundreds of GLA, A-Class, C-Class, GLC and E-Class models over a failure of the driver’s airbag gas generator. The problem impacts cars build between January and March 2018 and could result in loose parts entering the cabin during airbag deployment.

Mercedes-Benz is also recalled around 170 Vitos with rotating front seats, due to a wiring problem that may active an airbag while the van is in motion.

R/2018/208	Fiat	Panda	Some vehicles were assembled without the engine suspension reaction bracket fitted on the transmission side. In some cases, the drive shaft could become disengaged and drop below the vehicle whilst in motion.
R/2018/188	Jeep	Grand Cherokee	A short in the vehicle causing the CAN-C bus to stop communicating while the cruise control is active. This may result in either the vehicle maintaining its current speed or possibly accelerating.
R/2018/168	Mercedes-Benz	GLA, A-Class, C-Class, GLC and E-Class	The steering column clock spring may break. This will cause warning messages to illuminate in the instrument cluster. In extreme instances it may cause the driver's airbag to deploy.
R/2018/157	Mercedes-Benz	V-Class	The front seats can loosen the wire fixings under the seats when being rotated. This could lead to deactivation of the thorax bag or to unintentional triggering of the thorax bag.
R/2018/182	Mitsubishi	ASX	Due to inappropriate water proof structure of the front deck water can drop on the wiper link. In the worst case, the wiper link may detach itself and the windshield wipers may be inoperative.

i don't expect it will,Audi will spend years saying it must be the drivers
fault for using the excellerator pedal causing an excess of water to go
thro' the waterpump an weaken the seals in all cases,even if a4,a5,a6
and q5 have differant makes of pump.
