Advances in fuel efficiency in the official tests in recent years mean you needn’t choose a small, economy car in order to keep company car tax bills low. Here we list the quickest accelerating large cars (all completing 0-62mph in less than 10 seconds) whose BIK tax might be lower than you think.

Volvo has begun replacing its engine line-up with new in-house four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. While it might be a little disappointing to lose the racy burble of a five-cylinder diesel, the new 2.0-litre D4 brings with it exceptional improvements in efficiency, with the manual S60 falling below the 100g/km barrier. It is also the fastest accelerating car in our top 10, combining 74mpg potential with a 0-62mph time of just 7.4 seconds
