0-62mph: 7.4 sec
CO2: 99g/km

Volvo has begun replacing its engine line-up with new in-house four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. It is also the fastest accelerating car in our top 10, combining 74mpg potential with a 0-62mph time of just 7.4 seconds
