Mk V Golf - Passenger Door Wont Lock - Prince23

Hi All,

Got a little problem with my mk5 golf. Recently when using the fob to lock the doors, the passenger door hasn't locked. Couple of weeks later and it wont lock at all, be it with the fob or just using the key. I tried my other fob just in case it was a problem with the battery and still got the same problem.

Any ideas what it could be? And rough costs?

Possibly a fault with the door latch/lock actuator.Not uncommon on these.About £120 for the part and around 1 hour to fit.hth

The door latch is a fully integrated unit from Brose GMBH.

There is a common problem with Brose latches from this era (affecting other makes too) but which will be fixed in the new one you buy.

You will need to buy a new one.

Although there is a possibility it's a connection or wiring problem, so chek this first.

Cheers Guys,

If it helps, when it was on its way out you could hear it make a faint locking noise, but since its died it's completely gone if that makes sense?

Does that sound consistent with a lock actuator?

Is there a worse case scenario should it not be the actuator?

Yes, it sounds like the latch.

There is no actuator - the days of seperate motor units went past more than 2 decades ago!
