Ford Mondeo TDci 2005 - Intermittent power loss / warning bleeps from dash - blodwenpig
I have a problem with my mondeo TDci without any warning the car losses power and goes into limp home mode . If I stop and restart the car the ecu rebooted it resumes power . Sometimes I get warning bleeps from dashboard
The temperature gauge stays steady at the mid range normal, sometimes when the faults occur the temp drops down to the cold. I had the car diagnostic checked. the only code was P1288 recorded cylinder head temperature sensor, but the garage was unable to locate the item. Would this sensor cause the two problems I have .where is this sensor/ does this sensor control the temperature gauge?

The engine coolant temp sensor provides information to both the engine control ecu and the temp gauge,so yes, both problems are connected.Access to the sensor is a little tricky as it sits behind the auxiliary drive pulley at the end of cylinder head, gearbox end. This pulley drives the water pump and pas pump.hth
