1998 Honda Civic 1.6 SE - engine warning light

1998 Honda Civic 1.6 SE - engine warning light - Safety1

4 months ago the yellow warning light came on. The local independent garage I've used for years checked the fault code, and replaced the catalytic converter. 30 miles later the warning light came on again. 2 further cats, and 2 lambda filters later, and the error persists. Honda have run a diagnostic, and been unable to help further. Now it has failed the MOT, on emissions. The car has done 110,000 and has been a great car to drive. I'd be sorry to have to scrap it. Any thoughts about possible cause?

spark plugs or leads failing? does it misfire at all? I'm not sure what other sensors these have (and I have the 1.5!). Shows how generally reliable they are. I would probably find another garage to the one who have sold you 2 lots of the same replacement parts!

Thanks for reply- The garage have tried hard, -replaced the cats FOC, as potential faults. Engines been running fine- not misfiring, and fuel consumptions been normal. Will look at spark plugs

Worrying diagnosis here. a faulty cat will not bring on the fault light on this car.What fault codes have been taken from the engine control system?hth

My 2000 year, Aerodeck 1.6 SE. circa 90k miles

Same fault.........genuine Honda Cat solved the problem after 2 x cheapies -serviced, VPower in the tank.
