Hi,
Where do you buy those reversing mirrors that help you see the back of your car? My wife is getting used to our new estate and I want to buy something that will help.
Cheers. Would prefer to buy something online if poss.

You can get fresnel lenses or reversing sensors from Halfords and other accessory shops, but as far as
those reversing mirrors that help you see the back of your car
I take it you mean the type of thing you see hanging off the back of Jap import Toyote Hiaces and Previas? I don't know of anywhere that sells them in the UK, maybe try a scrapyard that specialises in imports...?

Sorry Dave, you typed faster than I did!
No Dosh - but then who has?

Do you mean the rectangular lenses you place at the top of the window? I think it's a "fresnel" lens that allows you to see (either over your shoulder or using your rear-view) as if you were looking down towards your rear bumper from the lens.
Dear old Halfords certainly sold them 18 months ago when I put one in my last car for the same reason. Don't know if you can buy online, but they certainly came in at under a tenner.

Just tried at Halfords.co.uk, not on-line you can't! Only in-store...
Yes a fresnel lens is similar to the type used in lighthouses, only a lot smaller. It's only really effective if your rear window is fairly close to the vertical, if you had, say, an Audi 100 Avant it wouldn't be a lot of cop. It would be very helpful in a Volvo 940 though!

I had mine in current shape Rover 400 saloon and 'er outdoors found it allowed her to judge when the rear bumper was about 2 foot from whatever she was about to drive into. Usually at great expense.
Still, the car repairs were cheaper than the divorce (sigh) but I got a cracking deal on the new model (although her hubby didn't see it that way at the time)
