Changing spark plugs - Hot or Cold - robert
Hi all,

Simple question -when changing spark plugs should they be changed when the engine is hot or cold?

Cold is recommended as the new spark plugs should be tightened to their specified torque when the engine is cold. If tightened when hot they could end up overtightened when the engined has cooled down. Plus you might burn your hands if you change them when they're hot!>> Hi all,

Preferably cold, as the reasons mentioned by Geezer's reply.
But if you have a stubborn plug, sometimes they can be easier to remove once the engine is hot.
