Oil Give it foive! - Rebecca
Susan Stranks is (was?) her name, I believe chaps.

Well, one good turn deserves another.
Re: Oil Give it foive! - Rebecca
or come to think of it was she the one from Magpie?
Re: Oil Give it foive! - Dai Watchalowski
Susan Stranks was in Magpie....
Re: Oil Give it foive! - Brian
I am pretty sure it wasn't Susan on Top of the Pops. I'd go along with the earlier suggestion of Janice.
Anyway, the "Oill" or "Oil" is appropriate for a motoring forum. Was it Duckhams I wonder?.

Samantha Juste?
Re: Oil Give it foive! - Stuart B
Actually Rebecca is partly correct as Susan Stranks was on the panel on the very first JBJ. (this anorak hoods a bit hot this weather!)
wasn't even Juke Box Jury... - Mark

THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS was Independent Television's answer to the Beeb's 'Juke Box Jury'. It was hosted by Keith Fordyce and later, by Brian Matthew. A weekly panel of young people chosen by disc jockey Don Moss gave their views on, and awarded points to, the latest record releases.

Probably the one outstanding memory of the show is of the wonderful Janice Nicholls "Oi'll give it foive!"

Thank you Mark for reminding us of Janice's surname, but it was in fact on JBJ that she first appeared on the goggle box. ITV ripped it off and like Murray Walker and Des Lynam she jumped channels as by then I suppose she was missing her 15 minutes of fame. So in answer to your It wasn't even Juke box Jury, we are getting into an early pantomime season with "Oh yes it was!"
Re: wasn't even Juke Box Jury... - Mark
oh no it wasn't !!

was it ?? I don't think it was.

Did you know that Susan Stranks was actually on the first ever show of Juke Box Jury ?

Or worse, that Janice Nicholls became a Radio DJ and actually released a record called, predictably "Oi'll give it foive".

Regards

Trivial of Rio

p.s. know where the word "trivia" came from ? Think straight roads and latin.

Brummy girls. - David Woollard
I popped this on the "Rocker Panel" thread, now fast rushing off the page so here it is again.

..........Never ceases to amaze me what you can find on the net in a few minutes. Taken from a music website found with Dogpile Search Engine......

"It was 1962, and as a birthday gift I had been given a record token, my first ever. My young aunt was keen for me to get a Cliff Richards single with it, but I had other ideas. There used to be a pop programme on ITV where a panel of 'experts' reviewed newly released singles. The only memorable character was a girl who worked in a Brummy record shop whose phrase for a potential top seller ('Oill give it foive') became the catch phrase of a generation."

So now we know.

Does that fit with your ideas guys and Rebecca?

It must be your age..... - Guy Lacey
Is it just me or am I totally lost on this one?
Re: It must be your age..... - David Woollard
Guy,

The clue is in the date on my post ......were you watching TV in 1962? If a Golf GTi nut perhaps not born then.

David L will tell all no doubt.

Re: Oil Give it foive! - Stuart B

Re: Oil Give it foive! - Carole Adams
Didn't David Jacobs host JBJ? Or has someone already said that? (We'll be onto Crackerjack next - remember Double or Drop?)
Double or drop. - David Woollard
Carole,

I think you are back onto the sort of games Guy Lacy plays again........in his fishnets of course.
