got exactly the same problem

56 plate 1.9TDi

60,000miles

Had the injectors checked --- all fine

all filters fine

this is obviously a vectra issue

Vauxhall garage were useless and have well and truely been put off this company

Anyone had this problem before and fixed it?

Why is it 'obviously a vectra problem'?

Is the oil level ok? Is there any oil in the intercooler or the hose exiting the intercooler? If so, it could just be a failed turbo oil seal.

true, not obviously a vectra problem ,

oil level is fine, smoke smells like unburnt diesel, what is strange is turning off of ignition clears the problems immediately but not for more than 5-10 mins.

am guessing it is a computer mangagement issue but finding it hard to get a decent diagnosis that doesnt cost the earth (ie vauxhall garage!)

Has the pipework downstream of the turbo compressor been checked for excessive oil? The engine management system does not control oil flow, and the engine has no way of knowing that it is burning oil-unless the DPF (if present) becomes clogged.

A failed turbo seal will often temporarily clear after switching the engine off. Does it smoke at idle?

Can you blank off the EGR valve remove it.

Mine does it from cold starts vauxhall say normal did it at just 5k and now on 18k only when cold.

checked for excessive oil, none found

think the smoke is un burnt diesel, (am told it smells like it) the fuel consumption drops to 20mpg while the smoke is present and then after 20mins (approx) stops smoking and fuel consumption lifts to 55mpg,

doesnt really vary on ambient conditions (ie cold starts)

I have the same problem with my 2007 Mazda6 TD. It's fine when cold (usually) but every so often it starts burning too much fuel and I get smoke (blue I think) from the exhaust.I think the pattern is approximately 100 miles good operation then 50 miles with the problem then 100 miles fine again and so on.

It's not really affected by weather, choice of route, driving style or anything else I can put my finger on. There's no obvious trigger, it just goes manic for about 50 miles at a time.

Any answers to this? Mazda are no help.

Did you resolve this problem?

The above problems sound very much like someone has gutted the DPF but have not fully disabled the regeneration function of the ECU
