Nissan Micra 1.2 K12 2003 - Gearbox Casing - Oil Leak - Chris79

Hello All,

My Micra seems to have developed an oil leak. The leak appears to be coming from the gap between the transmission and the engine, meaning I guess that the gasket / oil seal there has perished.

I took it to the garage today to get a quote and they said that they may have to replace the casing in addition to the oil seal. Whilst not being a mechanic i am a little perplexed by this. I have had the car up on ramps and there does not appear to be any damage to the casing so why should it be neccesary to replace this in addition to the seal?

Any thoughts?
