Honda CR-V - Correct Oil for Honda CR-V 2.2 CTDi - hatman

The amber oil level warning light has just come on my 2007 CR-V 2.2 CTDi (the first of the new shape April 2007) I have visited the Castrol website and apparently the oil I should use depends on whether the car is a DPF version or not. Is there anyway of knowing if my car was fitted with a DPF? Any thoughts on which oil I should use to top up greatly appreciated.

Ignore the Castrol site;what does HONDA say?

I asked Honda Customer Care exactly the same question after Castrol stopped selling/promoting their Edge Turbodiesel 0W30 engine oil.

Honda said just use their standard 0W30 oil (or any other branded synthetic 0W30 oil, such as Mobil 1)

you don't have a DPF on this engine - it wasn't introduced until the iDTEC version.

You want 0w-30 and don't let anyone (inc oil manufacturers and Honda dealers) tell you otherwise. Castrol / Mobil are good bets but you can cheaper oil to the same spec made by Exol. Try lubetechshop.com.
