Peugeot 307 - New stereo - Tango1978

I was toying with the idea of putting a new stereo into my 307, however I am proceeding with extreme caution being as the electricals have been more than a little problematic.

I was simply wondering if it would affect the use of the display mounted on my dash? I mean does the whole thing need to be left alone or will I still get all of the useful information it produces with an after market stereo. I'd go ask Peugeot but no doubt they'd see the opportunity to blag my all too empty wallet.

Any advice would be appreciated.

With an aftermarket radio you will loose the radio display on top of the dashboard its the only way with the standard radio to see the info whereas the aftermarket unit has it inbuilt,with the aftermarket you can have what you want depending on how much you want to pay also dependenton the age of your 307 I think you can fit a double din unit.Use ebay as a reference for parts,kits,fascias etc.its a very quick job to do.

Awesome I am just hoping to keep the stuff like temperature time and date and all that sort of information displayed. But I'm guessing thats handled by a different part of the onboard computer stuff

It will keep the date and the temp you will only loose the radio info.

There are plenty of radios out there that keep the Vauxhall dash display info and even interface with the steering wheel controls either by default or using an adapter. http://tinyurl.com/39wynya I can't imagine they only do these for Vauxhalls so you need to take the advice of a specialist car radio fitter ..... and I don't mean Halfords! Thats cool, was thinking autosounds here in Newcastle, they seem to have been around a while and have some decent stock. Plus I'd rather have a pro fit the electrics on the motor given my usual ham fisted approach to technical stuff!
