Ford focus 2006 - Ford Focus - Jumping out of gear! - foliage

Hey - i have a 2006 focus that has started to jump out of 2nd gear under deceleration or when been held in gear going downhill. Haven't got it checked out yet but was wondering if it was a serious issue or not. Appreciate any help

As its only doing it in one gear I would strongly suspect a gearbox fault.

worth checking gearbox mounts but suspect g/box fault. Do you tend to keep your hand on the gearlever in between gear changes in the past ? even subconciously ?some drivers have a habit of hanging onto the gear lever when in 2nd & this causes excess wear to the selector fork.
Some boxes I have rebuilt in the past I have seen the forks worn completely out ! wafer thin!

Thanks for the info - it's only got 30k miles on it and don't leave my hand on the gear lever. Noticed that some vibration builds up in the gear lever before it jumps out. Is this problem likely to get worse and more frequent? Is it a dear job to rebuild the box?

Hi, I'm having the same problem but in a 2009 focus manual. Seems to pop out of gear going downhill. Wondering what your solution was or if anyone has any advice?
