Ford Mondeo 2.0ltr tdci 130bhp 2005 - battery light still staying on dashboard driving - keith72

i have now had a replacment alternator put in the car and battery light is still showing on dashboard.it seems to be when i turn engine on and cold outside the front and rear demisters come on for a couple of minutes then battery light comes on and front demister goes off and will not work.the only way i can stop this is when i turn engine on and turn off demisters right away and that seems to solve the problem.

any ideas folks,this is bugging me now

Hi this wont help you,but i have the same problem £250 for new alternator battery light comes on after 20 seconds and front screen turns off and wont go on again battery is charging ok

what have you done about yours then,did you get it fixed.

While it is running with the battery light on, have you put a multimeter across the battery terminals to check you are getting 14V or more?

Hi, new to this. try bypassing the 3 wire plug that leads from alternator to cabin. It is part of the smart charge system i think. For some reason the plug goes and by bypassing it (securely) this will sort your problem. If this is bad it can cause car to eat alternators ( i know because i had 3 before i cured it with this simple fix). Follow 3 wires up from alternator and you will see plug on o/s of engine bay left of timing chain cover.
