Vauxhall Corsa B (54 Reg) - Vauxhall Corsa Immobiliser Problem - Nrmart

The other day out of the blue my car wouldn't start. If I turn the key to the II position the immobiliser light stays on and now it won't lock using the the central locking system. Also if I try to lock it manually it locks but then immediately unlocks.

Can any one help please?

Thanks

You may want to edit the title to vauxhall corsa C , the B was pre 2000.

On topic though the ECU's are very prone to failure on these cars. We sell a good few of them, generally a complete kit with keys, locks, ECU and all the requitred parts for the immobiliser run about £150 delivered. People can repair your existing one but they generally dont last more than 3 month when repaired. However before getting the ECU condemed I would strongly advise you visit a local and reputable auto electrician. You may just have a wiring issue.

Has been a known issue with a bad earth to the ECU and I have run an extra earth cable to the ECU and problem solved. always worth a check, sometimes if you have a sticky lock when you lock it will try and unlock becuase the c/locking cannot compete a cycle.

When you lock the doors watch all the locks if possible to see if one is lazy and don't forget the boot & filler cap if it has a plunger lock on the petrol flap

Bloomin technology eh

I think the driver's door switch is a bit sticky on my Corsa C as I once watched it half lock then unlock. A teenager or dare I say it a lady, would have walked away and left it unlocked.

Also when I got the car there was a code posted indicating failure.

So how do you fix it? I've stuck wd40 up the door orifices and oiled the lock, but you can't get at much without ripping it apart?

I got a 55 plate vauxhall corsa and with the exact same problem, I changed the ECU and responder, and it's another part I've changed and i still got the same problem, I've had the AA working on it for two and a half hours and he couldn't see the problem aswell and i've asked people around and they don't know where the problem is and if you do find out the problem could you let me know, and I hope you find the problem aswell mate,. many thanks, if you do find out whats wrong could you email me on jake.truelove26@googlemail.com

Well my Corsa's been ok now for a year, or at least nobody's said awt. So I would suspect sticky motors and lack of use, maybe the wholesale abuse of WD40 got to the bits that matter. The car had been off the road with a knackered engine, so not used much, but I'll never know unless it happens again.

Or, has just occurred to me, a slightly flat battery. Twas 'bout that time I took the original out and shoved the monster out of the Astra diesel in, for no particular reason but keep it charged. Has been in since. Hmm.

Upon reflection I think that's it. An old battery that is fine for most purposes, but cannot supply the sudden current required, cold, after standing, to fire up the body systems.
