Volkswagen Touran - VW Touran faults turbo and steering - shanebarton

I have just got a VW touran 2005 20L TDI 72000miles, on the way back from the garage where I bought the car the turbo stopped working on the motorway and the car struggled to get to 70MPH. As I was close to home I called in to a local garage for them to have a look, they plugged it in to a machine and 3 faults where listed, 16618 P0234 000 turbo/super charget overboost condition control limit exceeded, 17055 P0671 000 cylinder 1 glow plug circuit-Q10 electrical fault and 18104 P1696 000 powertrian databus implausible signal from steering column electronic sporadic. The garage said that the turbo was on its way out (I did notice some smoke under hard acceleration) but the car has not done this again since and all seems ok, there is a three month warranty with the car so I need to get to the bottom of it asap so I can have it fixed on warranty.

Is there any way I test for the problems indicated by the fault codes and make the car go into the fault to prove there is a problem? (the garage rest the faults)

You should have taken the car back and had them repair it or give you your money back its the sellers responsibility not some cheapo insurance gaurantee which will not cover half the parts or all the labour .It needs taking to a VW agent put on their computer and they will come up with new turbo, new egr,new glow plugs, new ecu, and a bill for £3k plus.

Second hand out of warranty ,badley maintained diesels with highish miles are a money pit.

At that point you should have gone straight back. And asked for your money back.

You are not abrupt. You use 5 lines where 2 will do. Positively verbose..:-)
